Leave Only Your Footprints

All our programmes are designed with the locals in mind first and foremost, and then volunteers and interns come to fit into the local setup, which ensures that the programmes will continue beyond the stay of external partners and volunteers. The programmes and experiences are also designed to ensure our core value of knowledge exchange takes place seamlessly.
We denounce with righteous indignation and dislike men who we are to beguiled demoralized by the charms of pleasures that moment, so we blinded desires, that they indignation.

wildlife internship abroad in Africa - Zimbabwe

Internships abroad are a great opportunity for travelling and exploring whilst enhancing your professional skills. Internships abroad are one way to diversify your résumé and give yourself a competitive edge against your peers. With a variety of internship opportunities abroad being offered, it is important that we guide and help you choose the most rewarding experience, which helps you step out of your comfort zone. The internships we include are academically robust and will definitely boost your CV – allowing you to develop critical skills needed for modern jobs and entrepreneurial ventures. We offer personalised internships, housing, 24-hour support and networking activities that will allow you to create memories that last a life-time. If you are an adventurous person, then Zimbabwe should be on your bucket-list. Be sure to visit the Victoria Falls for some world-class skydiving and the Eastern Highlands for the amazing zipline and skywalking lessons in between mountains.

Developing your skills as a business major?

The business world is very dynamic, and an international business experience will help you to be a competitive entrepreneur and start a successful business career. Taking part in the Zimbabwe Company Internship will give you a new business outlook and change how you solve business problems because you will be given tasks that will expose you to all the departments of a firm. We make sure you get the right placement and tasks that will fully expose you to the global business culture, which will allow you to secure a position in a globalised economy. For example, our Alumni Katie Heywood came to us as a fresh Bachelor’s graduate and after her time with us, landed her first job with Incorporated London Ltd and she excelled due to the experience she garnered while interning with two of our local partners. Here from Katie based on her experience by watching her video.

For MBA students looking for a work placement with a difference, one that will give you an edge over your peers, we have just the placement for you! Zimbabwe is one place where you can learn about economic policies and evidence of how they fail because of the black or parallel market forces. You can also learn about hyperinflation and different monetary policies and their effects on small as well as large businesses. Interns also take part in the process of consumer credit financing, development of financing and credit retail distribution networks. We also ensure that the interns improve and gain valuable global skills that are effective communication, decision making skills and how to deal with a diverse workforce. All these skills will help you and your résumé to stand out and allow you to grab top entry-level positions upon graduation.

If it is true that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, then you need not worry because we have you covered. From handling your after-work activities, to your weekend itinerary; our experienced travel consultants will be at hand to customise each itinerary to match your individual or collective interests. All this will help build a business professional who is flexible and diverse.

Are you thinking of applying to medical or nursing school?

If you want to diversify or have a competitive résumé that sets you up for admission at a medical or nursing school of your choice, then you should not miss our pre-health internship opportunities. Medical & nursing schools always require students who are willing to go an extra mile to get hands-on experience. The internship will introduce you to the healthcare world and nurture you to be a competitive doctor, nurse or other healthcare-related field. You will shadow national medical staff and gain a broad view on local and international health issues.

The internship will expose you to city and rural hospitals as we make sure you get a full appreciation of both healthcare systems. Such experience helps interns to be more aware of life as a doctor, nurse, occupational or physical therapist because our pre-health programme exposes interns to all sides of working at a health facility. Some of the intern tasks include taking notes as health practitioners carry out their duties, helping with patient filing, watching physicians & nurses in theatre rooms during surgery, conducting post operation rounds among others. The medical system in Zimbabwe is very different from most systems, it allows students to observe how the doctors and nurses manage to carry out their duties and save lives with minimal resources.

You might have impressive academic credentials that meet initial medical or nursing school requirements but they do not guarantee automatic admission. Other factors such as life experiences, volunteer work, research, letters of recommendation and interviews will boost your résumé and show your interest in the field. Our internships help you create medical life experiences, for example, in addition to working inside hospitals and clinics, you venture out on community outreach as well as immunisation programmes.

So, what really sets apart the Tiritose Sustainable Travel Medical Practice Internship from other medical internships offered? I am glad you asked – not only do we provide a conducive learning environment, we help you prepare university applications and assist with interview preparation should you require our assistance. Nothing in life is guaranteed, however, with us, you are sure to stand out and drastically increase your chances of being accepted at your first choice medical or nursing school. With the help of the pre-health internship, one of our interns Rusty Fields was able to get into the John Hopkins pre-med programme. Rusty loved the experience so much that he returned a second time and shadowed one of our foremost Neurosurgeons, Dr. J. Nozipo Maraire. Hear from some of our alumni based on their review of the programme.

ARE YOU THINKING OF PREPARING YOURSELF FOR VETERINARY SCHOOL?

Zimbabwe is a veterinary playground because of the amount of wildlife and game parks that we have in abundance. The country is blessed with vast amounts of wildlife landscapes making it a second home for animal enthusiasts. We have partnered with game parks and animal sanctuaries to give you a career-enhancing experience. You will get to work with experienced veterinary doctors who will impart knowledge and the important skills and tricks needed for you to succeed as a Vet or Vet nurse. You will learn about the medication and specific amounts needed to treat the animals. It will give you a world-class wildlife experience and so you will definitely need your camera for this internship.

The pre-vet programme gives interns a chance to unite community outreach programmes with wildlife and environmental conservation.  You will get the chance to work with local professional vets and help sterilise dogs and cats at community vet clinics. A chance to interact with locals and share ideas on how to solve existing vet issues is also provided. The internship offers interns  an opportunity to live in an animal sanctuary and make new animal friends. Interns also take part in habitat enrichment by mending Game Park and National Park fences that are bordering villages to limit human-wildlife conflict and poaching.

The internship will provide pre-vet students with a chance to fully work and learn about the behaviour of animals. Learning the behaviour of animals is very important as it will allow us to know the way to approach each animal, which ultimately makes it easier to treat the different animals. Pre-vet interns have the opportunity to participate in wildlife population control programmes and will help in the testing and treatment of animal tuberculosis, rabies or foot and mouth.

The internship experience will develop your clinical skills that include animal patient intake, compiling medical records, diagnoses, interpreting test results and administering treatment. The work will expose you to the different diseases that affect animals and how they can be treated. This will prepare you for veterinary school as you get the chance to learn about the animals whilst validating your decision to apply to vet school. It will also make it easier for you to understand what your lecturers will teach you when you start vet graduate school since you would have seen it all first-hand. The internship will help you secure a place at the vet school of your choice as you will be way ahead of other applicants with proof of hands-on experience as well as recommendation letters from leading veterinarians.
