Katie Heywood was the first intern we placed here in Harare in October and she hit the ground sprinting when she started at Columbus DDB (our partner that rocks), a marketing and PR company. On the first day of her marketing and communications internship, she got straight into an implementation meeting for the launch of FastJet Airline. She played an integral role in the launch event, and was on the maiden flight round-trip from Harare to Victoria Falls.
Bruce Kupeta described Katie as ‘butter’ because she smoothly adapted to all situations and tasks given to her, and emphasised how they highly appreciated the fresh ideas the British 22 year-old contributed to the company.
In addition to her engagement at Columbus DDB, Katie volunteered at an Orphanage in Marlborough called Jabulani Children’s Home that cares for 14 children. The final project Katie assisted with before she left was the launch of a women’s health product that will be released in the beginning of 2016. Tiritose Sustainable Travel is very proud of all she has managed to accomplish during her two and half months stay here in Harare.
