The township of Epworth has one of the highest unemployment rates in the Harare area, but with a new and innovative meat delivery business, a hundred new jobs have been created and Tiritose Sustainable Travel was present when it all went down. We woke up early Sunday morning, took the company truck, and transported tables, chairs and food to the township of Epworth. In the township, aspiring Member of Parliament, Acie Lumumba held training workshops collaboratively with Boost Fellowship (one of our partners that rock) for the new innovative meat delivery business.
The concept is to use ice cream carts that work without ice, but still keep the meat fresh, to be available around the Epworth community with vendors selling meat for a minimum of a dollar. Vault Cosmetics offered grooming classes through the talented Hollywood-based owner Jackie Mgido. Giving the two hundred short-listed residents a makeover made them ready and prepared for their final job interview as well as demonstrate the level of presentation required on the job. Tiritose Sustainable Travel assisted by distributing food to the finalists at this all-day final interview where 100 Epworth community residents received jobs. It was a real collaborative effort, which stays true to our organisational ethos of building together: ‘you and I are the difference’.
