It is no secret the growing spread of COVID-19 is a global concern with some countries in Europe being on lockdown and banning large gatherings. These are interesting times, however, this will pass and we will be able to explore the world again.

Zimbabwe remains to have no positive cases of the coronavirus. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) held a meeting for the health ministers in the region and they discussed the need to implement National Preparedness and Response Plans for COVID-19. The Ministry of Health is in constant communication with the World Health Organisation as positive cases are being reported on the continent.

Airlines across the world are reducing the number of flights per day, which limits the number of inbound flights, however, it presents an opportunity for people to travel. To encourage people coming to Zimbabwe, packages and promotions will be attractive.

Domestic travel is just as important as international travel. Who better to promote travel than locals? However, some establishments only accept USD$, which is inaccessible for the average Zimbabwean. Boosting domestic tourism should be an objective for us all as it has many benefits including word of mouth marketing, local clientele and boosting of brand Zimbabwe. We encourage our ecosystem partners to accommodate RTGS payments in their business models.

We’re encouraging our ecosystem partners who receive positive referrals or a social media post praising their businesses for an unforgettable experience to share these with us and we will in-turn share these moments on our social media too for some cross promotion and wider reach. As a community, we need to spread the love and bask in each other’s highlights. Please send your testimonials, pics and/or videos to us with your social media handles and we’ll share them on our social media.

Insurance has never been more important and we are seeing how the coronavirus is negatively impacting businesses. Due to this, cancellation and refund policies will need to be readjusted. It’s no secret we are all feeling the crunch as we are all in special circumstances. We appeal to you to consider concessions on your cancellation and refund policies for the interim
